Lilah | Summer Session

I always think it's fun to go back and re-edit sessions from a while ago just to see how much my style/work has changed. I love the way I edited them before, but I love the way I edited them now too. I never really posted many pictures from this session, but I thought they turned out so beautifully that they needed to be blogged. My little girly looks so gorgeous. I cannot believe how much she has grown though!

Also? I really cannot wait for spring! I've only had one session outside with my new camera and I've been practicing lots of new techniques. I can't wait to try them both out with some natural light and pretty spring colors!

Anyways, Enjoy!

Now help me decide which one should be blown up on our wall... I love them all!

Aydin | Birth

I've know Kelsie and her family for about 6 years now and we've been talking off and on throughout her pregnancy.  About a month ago she asked me if I'd be interested in photographing her birth. I was a little nervous because I had never been to another birth let alone photographed one! I am so glad that I took her up on the offer. It was a truly amazing experience.

Kelsie told me around 3 pm on the 28th that she thought her water had broke. They went to the hospital soon after and by 5:30 she was having contractions.  I told her family to let me know when she reached 6cm and I'd come to the hospital. Well, that didn't happen until around 7:00 in the morning! Poor Kelsie was in labor for another 12 hours after that before she finally reached 10 cm. With the support of her family, she handled her contractions like a rockstar! After what seemed like forever Aydin finally made his entrance into the world at 7:21 pm on the 29th of January. I was overwhelmed with joy! He is such a beautiful little boy. Kelsie and his father Elisha are very lucky!

Here is a slideshow of his birth!
(make sure to watch in HD!)

PS. The song, picked by Kelsie, is Small Bump is Ed Sheeran.

The Harlan Family | The Olivia Act

Hey there!

As most of you heard I decided to participate in The Olivia Act, a group of photographers giving away free photo sessions to deserving families in honor of the Sandy Hook Elementary victims. The Olivia Act was inspired by professional photos that were taken of one of the victims, Olivia Engel, very shortly before she passed.  Those photos will now be cherished forever. Our goal is to give more deserving families photos that will mean the world to them as well.

I received very few nominations, but I am so glad Amy Roach nominated the Harlan family and introduced me to them.  It was a pleasure to work with them!  Their older daughters Adrianna and Adelynn were so much fun! They were very friendly and loving.  Alexandria, the newest member of the Harlan family pretty much slept the entire time, but she is such a gorgeous little baby! Erin and her husband, Zac, are very blessed.

Here is Amy's nomination for those of you that missed it.

"Zac and Erin are such great people and great friends.  They would truly do anything for everyone.  Four years ago, they had a baby girl named Adelynn.  She was born with down syndrome.  She is the most amazing little girl I have ever known.  She is so happy, fun, and loving towards everyone.  Zac and Erin were blessed to raise such a special little girl.  Then last year around Christmas time, they flew to Ecuador to adopt another little girl named Adrianna (a year older than Adelynn).  She also has down syndrome.  The two girls are now inseparable and are both just full of so much joy!  Zac and Erin are now expecting baby girl #3 sometime around January 7, 2013.  This photo shoot would be so awesome for them because they will have 3 little girls sometime very soon and they need a really good family photo!"

Here are my favorite photos from their session. I must have missed editing because this session was less than 12 hours ago and I'm almost done editing already!

and I had their dad snap a photo of me and the girls. :)

I hope you all enjoyed this session as much as I did.

2013 Changes

Hey guys ,

A new year is just around the corner and we will be doing this a little bit differently!

First of all, as most of you know, our prices are being raised!  I know this isn't ideal, who wants to pay more for anything?! But new prices mean new equipment, props, backdrops, etc. for YOUR photos!  I will continue to have deals and giveaways so as always watch my facebook page for that!  You can find the new prices here:

http://www.littlemissmaephotography.com/#!gallery/cwvn

Next we will have booking agreements that everyone must print out and get to me prior to our session, or if we schedule last minute you may bring it to your session.  This is to avoid things that happened this last year like people not showing up to their sessions, showing up an hour late then expecting me to stay another hour, and other inconveniences.  I understand that things come up, but this way my efforts will not be pointless. The booking agreement basically states that if you fail to show up to your session at the arranged time/place you will be charges a 10% no show fee.

I also have some goals/resolutions for myself this next year!
1.  I want to work on becoming more organized.  I know sometimes clients feel like I am a little scatter brained, but that kind of comes with being a single mother of a toddler!
2.  I’m going to try my hardest to blog more often and add more variety like the workflow of certain pictures, DIY props, pull backs of studio set ups, etc.
3.  As always I will continue to work on improving my photography.  I’m always learning and constantly researching tips and techniques. I’m even thinking about taking an online workshop before this spring. If anyone has any suggestions for one let me know!

I think that’s about it!  I have a good feeling about 2013.

Thanks for listening!

Year One Highlights!

 Hey guys!

Since I am terrible at updating my blog (hopefully I will be better about that in 2013) I just decided to make a HUGE post of all my favorite photos from my first year. I am so grateful for everyone that booked a session with me, I hope to have many more great photo shoots the upcoming year.

Until then enjoy these! Some are "firsts", some are favorites, some are funny, and some just warm my heart. <3

This was taken the very first day I got my canon rebel! My daughter was only 2 months old! I had been interested on photography, and taking an online course through school, before then but getting the rebel really sparked my interest in taking photographs professionally.
