St. Patrick's Day Parade!

This year for St. Patrick's Day, I decided to go to Cedar Rapids to watch the parade. Well my sister and brother dance with Champagne Academy of Irish Dance  so the rest of my family was going to be in the parade and Tre was kind enough to let me and Lilah join them. :) It was freezing out and Lilah was so tired she fell asleep in the middle of the parade, but it was a super fun day.

               Trapolin (my oldest brother) took over the stroller so that I could take                 pictures! Haha, not very festive looking, all bundled up, but oh well. :P

After the parade we went to the after party where we got to tank up on yummy treats and watch my sister (and a few of the other older dancers preform. They were amazing! They have all grown and improved so much since the first time I saw them dance and I may be biased, but I thought my sister was incredible! Seriously almost brought tears to my eyes!  (mainly because depending on where she decides to go to college that could have been her last performance!

Reece | One Year

I have been photographing Reece since she was a newborn.  I can't believe it's been a year since our first shoot together! I remember all I could think about when I was photographing her for the first time were her big blue eyes and PERFECT skin. Seriously beautiful newborn girl grew up into a seriously beautiful one year old! Happy Birthday Reece!

As you can probably tell I totally think purple is her color. :P

Spring Sessions | Mt Vernon, Iowa Photography

Just a quick scheduling update! I only have 1 weekday studio session open for March. For April I have 4 weekend slots (all in Mount Vernon). For May I only have 3 weekend slots (one in Iowa City). Weekdays are still pretty open, but I'm limiting myself to 2 or 3 sessions a week until I'm done with school! June is going to be tricky to book because I may be out of town for a week or so, but I'm not quite sure about the dates. I do know the last weekend in June I have two slots in Mount Vernon.

So yeah, if you want to snag a Spring Session, do that quickly!

Lilah | Summer Session

I always think it's fun to go back and re-edit sessions from a while ago just to see how much my style/work has changed. I love the way I edited them before, but I love the way I edited them now too. I never really posted many pictures from this session, but I thought they turned out so beautifully that they needed to be blogged. My little girly looks so gorgeous. I cannot believe how much she has grown though!

Also? I really cannot wait for spring! I've only had one session outside with my new camera and I've been practicing lots of new techniques. I can't wait to try them both out with some natural light and pretty spring colors!

Aydin | Birth

I've know Kelsie and her family for about 6 years now and we've been talking off and on throughout her pregnancy.  About a month ago she asked me if I'd be interested in photographing her birth. I was a little nervous because I had never been to another birth let alone photographed one! I am so glad that I took her up on the offer. It was a truly amazing experience. 

Kelsie told me around 3 pm on the 28th that she thought her water had broke. They went to the hospital soon after and by 5:30 she was having contractions.  I told her family to let me know when she reached 6cm and I'd come to the hospital. Well, that didn't happen until around 7:00 in the morning! Poor Kelsie was in labor for another 12 hours after that before she finally reached 10 cm. With the support of her family, she handled her contractions like a rockstar! After what seemed like forever Aydin finally made his entrance into the world at 7:21 pm on the 29th of January. I was overwhelmed with joy! He is such a beautiful little boy. Kelsie and his father Elisha are very lucky!
